Cruising the Massachusetts Coast

February 23rd, 2011 | Admin

spent my summers by the sea. Always, a beach, a dock and a longing to be out in a boat followed me each successive summer as I joined family and friends at our family vacation home in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard or later, the Jersey Shore.

My grandmother used to belong to the Chappaquiddick Beach Club, and one of the swell things about this club is the big dock that allowed members to come over to the club by small boat.

I sat on that dock for hours, watching with envy the Boston Whalers and other small motorcraft that zipped in and out, piloted by grinning young men or bikini-clad teen girls. Oh how I wanted to be in that driver’s seat.

Fast forward 35 years, and I’m waking up after spending the night on the bridge of a 42’ Krogen trawler yacht owned by the friends of a friend. When my pal Jack asked me if I’d like to rendezvous with Denny and Laraine and spend a few days on their boat off the coast of Chappaquiddick, it didn’t take me a second to say yes.

Costa Do Sauipe Holidays At Late Deals

September 23rd, 2010 | Admin

Costa Do Sauipe holidays are becoming more and more popular as people are travelling further afield for their holidays. Located in the state of Bahia, this purpose built resort lies just north of Salvador, and offers one of the most exciting tourist resorts in South America. Create a picture of paradise in your head and you are probably looking at Costa Do Sauipe. Miles of golden sandy beaches, coconut trees swaying in the breeze, azure blue skies, aqua blue sea, all surrounded by lush green tropical rain forests. Fresh water streams flow gently into the sea and naturally formed swimming pools create an oasis amongst the stunning sand dunes.

Costa Do Sauipe is part of an environmentally protected area (EPA) so the natural surroundings here are stunning, ecological excursions are organized out into the mangrove forests, woodlands, along rivers and over the sand dunes to encourage visitors to appreciate the beauty of this region and promote the ongoing efforts to keep it this way. One of the most amazing conservation efforts is the Tamar Project, it was discovered during the early 1980′s that turtles in this region were nearly extinct, but now, thanks to the Tamar Project raising local awareness and protecting feeding and breeding sites, more than 2 million baby turtles have been born in this area.

Discovering Dubai

Discovering the city

Dubai is 150 km of Abu Dhabi. A little more in car by absolutely rectilinear, soporific, continuous and monotonous a freeway takes half an hour. Once the last towers of Dubai are left back, fills a feeling to us of emptiness, infinite territory… Only desert to where the view reaches and asphalt roads, completely new. Lives here somebody? Beyond the highway, of the desert? The landscape marches past quickly after the lowered window of the Mercedes takes that me to the hotel where I lodge. Akim, the conductor, prefers to work at night due to the eternal traffic of Dubai. It could say that to lead during the fresh hours he is more pleasant, but not… We are at the beginning of June, they are the 02:00 in the morning and the temperature has not descended, or perhaps only a little. °C are 35 and the air is hot, is suffocating. We are not in tourist season and the hotels are empty, or almost. As of the autumn, the clients will begin to occupy these establishments, to everyone more luxurious. Abu Dhabi is looked like Dubai from this point of view, but it offers a perspective that hardly is in Dubai. The hotels are more extensive here, the sea is put in value in the first place and, with pleasing, a little is perceived the horizon if we inclined a little. The question is inasmuch as time? Commercial towers, hotels, restaurants and centers are constructed to an amazing and unavoidable speed. Modernity seizes progressively of the surroundings.

A Walking Tour of Boston’s Waterfront

September 4th, 2009 | Admin

Boston stands proud as the birthplace of the American Revolution and the present day hotbed of art, education and culture. For baseball fans, the city offers a taste of Red Sox history at Fenway Park.

With so much to see and do, we set off early in an effort to reach Boston by 9 a.m. Our primary intention was to walk along Boston’s scenic harborwalk, which has been constructed to provide easy access to the Harbor and connect the waterfront neighborhoods. Some parts of it are still undergoing extension.
