In addition, special trains are operated on a limited direct service such as a daily Eurostar direct run between London to Disneyland Paris terminating at the Mame-laValee-Chessy rail station. It also operates special train services to serve southern French destinations at certain times of the year. These seasonal round-trip services include a weekly London to Ashford to Avignon service from July to September and weekly twice [snow train] during the winter months to serve holiday skiers to Bour St. Maurice, AimelaPlagne and Moutiers in French Alps. The regular terminating stations in France become intermediate stations like Calais-Frethun & Lille-Europe.
Eurostar’s early years understandably were significantly higher than what they are today, with the cheapest fare at ₤99. By 2003, the cheapest fare between London to Paris or Brussels one way was at ₤50 available al throughout the year. In June 2009, the cheapest was at ₤31.
Travel through the channel tunnel has given stiff competition with airlines serving the UK and continental Europe, particularly in the London-Paris-Brussels route prompting fares to go down. Today, there are more passengers carried by Eurostar than all the airlines serving that route combined. It also features business premiere class just like airlines do with fares that have likewise gone down, though not as much.
With speed of up to 300kph (186 mph), Eurostar’s 394-meter long 18 luxury coach trains start and end at various points in Belgium and France to points in London. The main Eurostar direct services operate between the train terminal at St. Pancras International Rail station in London with direct feeder points from Ashford International and Ebbsfleet International rail stations in Kent to the Paris terminal at Gare du Nord with feed points from Calais-Frethun and Lille-Europe rail stations in France. Direct services from London also terminate in Belgium at the Midi/Zud rail station in Brussels. There are many good
